El Programa de USAID/El Salvador para el Desarrollo de las PyME de la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional, incorporó por primera vez capacitación y asistencia técnica en gestión empresarial para su proyecto de «Apicultores de Avanzada» en 2014.
El proyecto Apicultores de Avanzada desarrollado en el marco del Programa para el Desarrollo de las PYME, contó con la asistencia financiera de USAID (United States Agency for International Development), y un esfuerzo mancomunado de la Asociación Cadena de la Miel de El Salvador, el Organismo Internacional Regional de Sanidad Agropecuaria (OIRSA), y el Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería de El Salvador.
El trabajo coordinado de todas estas organizaciones posibilitó realizar entre junio a agosto de 2014 numerosas actividades de capacitación y asistencia técnica, finalizando exitosamente con 200 apicultores capacitados y 25 técnicos graduados.
